How to Get Here...

The MacBride Museum of Yukon History is located in the heart of downtown Whitehorse. We are just blocks away from the capital city’s hotels, shops, restaurants and other main attractions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take photographs inside the MacBride Museum?
Yes, non-commercial photography for personal use without a tripod is allowed in the Museum. If you would like to photograph the Museum or the Museum’s collection for publication or commercial use please call 667-2709 (ext.3) for more information.

Is the MacBride Museum wheelchair accessible?
Yes, a large majority of the Museum is wheelchair accessible. The Lower Gallery in the Centennial Log Building is only accessible by stairs.

Where can I park my vehicle while visiting the MacBride Museum?
There is free parking available on First Avenue and on Wood Street. There is metered parking available on Steele Street. Parking on First Avenue directly in front of the Museum is specially designated tourist parking from May to September. Visitor parking passes are available from the City of Whitehorse at Smith House, located just two blocks away on the corner of Third Avenue and Wood Street.

What languages are spoken at the Museum?
All of the Museum’s signage and programming is available in English. French language services are available upon request.

Why does MacBride Museum charge an entry fee?
The MacBride Museum is a not-profit society. All of the earned revenue from MacBride’s admission fee is directly reinvested back into the organization to pay for upkeep and maintenance, programming, staffing and caring for our collection of more than 24,000 historic artifacts and photographs.

Can I purchase historic photographs from MacBride Museum’s collection?
Yes, any image from MacBride Museum’s collection of 20,000 historic photographs can be purchased for research, publications or personal use. For more information on purchasing images click here, or call 667-2709 (ext.3).

Is MacBride Museum open during the winter?
Yes, the MacBride Museum is the only Museum in the Yukon that is open five days a week during the winter months. We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, or by appointment.
