Fall 2010 at the MacBride Museum

End of Summer Hours
Wednesday, August 31 will be the final day of summer hours (9:30am to 5:30pm) at the MacBride Museum. On September 1, 2 and 3 we will be open on winter hours (Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm).
If you would like to see the Museum outside of these hours call 667-2709 ext.4 to make an appointment.


The S.S. Keno:
Its life on Yukon’s rivers and its historic final voyage

S.S. KenoAugust 25, 2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the final voyage of the S.S. Keno, the last British Yukon Navigation company sternwheeler to run the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson Cit
y. This display commemorates the Keno: Its life running cargo down Yukon’s rivers, its historic final voyage, and the people whose work earned the steamer a venerated place in Yukon History.
This display is in the Hougen Heritage Gallery at Arts Underground (305 Main Street)

Horse and Rider Program
Monday, August 30 is the final day for MacBride Museum's Historical Horse and Rider Program. Titan and Supt. Hank Moorlag of the North-West Mounted Police will be at Rotary Park and at the MacBride Museum between 1pm and 3pm this afternoon.

Community Cabinet: Yukon Headstone Rubbings
Matt Willes For the first time ever, Matt Willes displays his collection of rubbings from the headstones of famous Yukoners from Sam McGee to Kate Carmack. The show will continue until September.

 


Baby Animals Preschool Program
Fridays 10 – 11am
This program is designed for preschool-age children and parents to have fun at the Museum together. Explore the Wild World Gallery, play games and create works of art while learning about baby animals. Activities focus on a different animal each week. Cost: Free for members or $5 per child and caregiver

Share your stories of the Whitehorse InnWhitehorse Inn
To celebrate the installation of the Whitehorse Inn sign at the MacBride Museum this year, we are collecting your stories and memories of the Whitehorse Inn. Share your tales of staying in the hotel, having dinner in the ballroom or drinks in the lounge.

Yukoner Days...
On the third Thursday of each month MacBride offers free admission to Yukoners with proof of residency. The next Yukoner Day will be September 16.

Coping with Cold: Wildlife Lecture Series
Hibernate, migrate, stick it out or go extinct. This series of presentations explores how Yukon animals cope with plunging temperatures. All presentations are free.
